Paul Ananaba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has urged the new governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to not go after anybody.

Ananaba made the appeal during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Aiyedatiwa, who deputised late Rotimi Akeredolu, was sworn in as the substantive governor of the state, after the demise of his principal on Wednesday from a protracted illness.

Akeredolu’s long absence pitched some of his top government officials against Aiyedatiwa, a development that led to a serious political tension in the state.

But during the interview, Ananaba said, “Lucky Aiyedatiwa should no longer succumb to distraction. He has been made the governor today. And having been made the governor, he should rule with fear of God.

“He should take every part of Ondo State as his constituency. He should also learn from David in the Bible. That is to show mercy and show respect to the Akeredolu ‘s family and Akeredolu’s political family.

“She should not go for witch-hunt. Ondo is a peaceful state. He should do more beyond where Akeredolu stopped. He should take his decisions according to the constitution. He should remember that he will leave office one day.”
