Justice Friday Oghazi of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, granted activist, Scott Iguma, N10 million bail.Iguma is facing trial on allegation of posting a false video and making threats to life.

During the hearing of the bail application, the defence counsel, Stanley Alieke, presented a motion dated July 17, 2025, supported by an affidavit. He requested the court to grant the defendant bail with the most liberal conditions.

The prosecution counsel, Mr A. Nwabuisi, while not opposing the bail application, asked the court to restrain the defence from posting details of the nominal complainant on social media and requested both parties to refrain from further postings.

In response, Alieke asked the court to also prohibit the petitioner from speaking on television and circulating press items to bloggers. Justice Oghazi ruled on the application, expressing satisfaction and granting the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million, with one surety in like sum.

The judge specified that the surety must provide documentation proving ownership of property within the court’s jurisdiction. Alternatively, the surety must be a civil servant, either with the Federal Government or Lagos State government, at least on Grade Level 12 and must show evidence of tax payment.

As part of the bail conditions, the judge ordered both parties in the suit, the nominal complainant and the defendant, to refrain from making comments since the matter is already in court. He directed the counsel to inform their clients of the court’s order.
Oghazi adjourned the matter till October 10, 2025, for trial.
