Governor Sule Abdullahi of Nasarawa has appointed the first female attorney general and commissioner of justice 29 years since the creation of the state.

Barr. Jugbo Hauwa Samuel, the first female attorney general and commissioner of justice, succeeded Barr. Labaran Magaji (currently the Secretary to the State Government), is a magistrate and hails from Wamba Local Government.

Meanwhile, the commissioner nominee, Magret Itaki Elayo, former commissioner of humanitarian affairs, stepped down during the inauguration by Governor Abdullahi Sule over an alleged diversion of relief materials under her ministry.

Governor Sule, while announcing the other 15 commissioners at the inauguration, regretted that Margaret Elayo was skipped because of some allegations raised against her shortly before the inauguration.

Sule, however, assured that Elayo would be sworn in if the allegations are cleared. However, stakeholders from Keana Local Government, her constituency, have called on Governor Sule to ignore the malicious allegations raised.
