Multiple road crashes around NASFAT along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway has claimed five lives while ten others were seriously injured.

According to the chief Routes commander and Education officer of the Ogun state sector of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, three vehicles were involved

The suspected cause of the crash was said to be as a result of dangerous driving on the part of one of the trucks who made a sudden U-turn without any indication to alert the truck behind which led to lose of control on both the truck and the bus

“The crash occurred at about 0956hrs on Lagos-Ibadan expressway around NASFAT, a total of 15 persons were involved, ten were seriously injured, while five persons confirmed dead” she said, adding that “a total of three vehicles were involved with registration numbers KUT561ZZ DAF TRUCK, GGE84YF TOYOTA HAICE BUS and the third vehicle Man diesel truck has no registration number on it”.

According to her, the injured victims were taken to Famobi Hospital Mowe while the corpses were deposited at Idera Hospital morgue Sagamu.

The Sector Commander, Anthony UGA however, cautioned motorists on speed and reckless driving and that any driver involved in a crash that claim lives will be prosecuted forthwith to serve as deterrent to recalcitrant drivers.

Mr Uga said he is pained over the incessant crashes especially along the corridor axis and further advised motorists to shun speed and drive defensively for safety purpose.
