Operatives of the Edo Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old travel agent, David Ibiso, for allegedly obtaining N11 million from a woman on the pretence of procuring travel documents to the USA for her.

Ibiso was paraded alongside 14 other suspects arrested for alleged armed robbery, kidnapping, fraud, and attempted murder among others.

Parading the suspect, the command’s spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was arrested by the police while investigating a case of fraud reported against him.

He said the suspect allegedly presented himself to the woman as a medical doctor and a registered travel agent and fraudulently obtained the sum of N11 million from her to procure travel documents to the USA.

Chidi said the suspect was arrested in Abuja, adding that he made statement and that he confessed to the crime.

In an interview with journalists, the suspect, who hails from Rivers State, agreed to have collected the money, but said it was not a case of fraud.

“It is a case of passport and visa. I am a third-party agent, I collected the money and gave it to a third party to process the document and the job wasn’t done.  We are still trying to resolve the problem,” he said.
