Ayokunle Odekunle, a Nigerian-born legal practitioner known for his impactful social commentary, has tragically passed away after a brave battle with stomach cancer that had reached stage four upon his arrival in Edmonton in 2020.

Despite the dire prognosis, Mr. Odekunle continued to make significant achievements, including being called to the bar in Alberta, Canada, last summer. His unique take-no-prisoners approach to social media, particularly on Twitter, earned him recognition as one of Nigeria’s top influencers.

A letter he wrote to his unborn child in 2009 showcased his self-awareness, acknowledging both praise and criticism of his character. Leaving behind a wife and two children in Canada, Ayo Odekunle’s death has left the Nigerian Twitter community in mourning, with an outpouring of praises and condolences for the departed soul.
