The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, yesterday directed the immediate deployment of tactical teams, equipment and the relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State.

This directive was disclosed in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, through his official X account.

“IGP Arrives Jos to meet governor, stakeholders as he orders deployment of tactical teams, equipment, orders relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State with immediate effect,” the statement said.

The development came in the wake of attacks by bandits on various communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of the state, resulting in numerous fatalities and the destruction of properties.

The attacks lasted approximately 48 hours, claiming the lives of over 150 villagers and displacing more than 10,000 individuals.

The affected areas include Ruku, Hurum, Darwat, Mai Yanga Sabo, NTV villages in Gashish, and Ropp districts within Barkin Ladi as well as areas in Bokkos.
