Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered investigations into the pockets of violence recorded during the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

The directive is contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The IGP directed all Electoral Offences Desk officers under the supervision of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department, to commence the investigation.

Egbetokun commended other security operatives for providing adequate support to the Nigeria Police Force during the elections.

He said the commitment and due diligence displayed by the security operatives in policing the electoral process were highly productive and commendable.

Egbetokun said the electoral process in the three states was seamless, defying earlier threat assessments and projected challenges from various quarters.

He acknowledged the exceptional efforts of the security personnel in maintaining law and order, safeguarding the electoral process, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
