Former Group Managing Director of the United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), Phillips Oduozua’s son, Emeka Oduoza, has died.

He was aged 27 years old.

Until his death, the young Oduoza was a “distinguished member” of Blackstone Group and an influential figure in the financial sector.
Emeka’s demise, “leaves behind a void in the world of finance, but his legacy of professionalism, innovation, and commitment to excellence will forever remain an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing him.”

According to an obituary statement, the young Oduoza was a highly respected individual within the Blackstone Group and a prominent presence in New York’s financial landscape, has left an indelible mark on the industry.

Oduoza was born in New York and he spent his life, “cultivating relationships, pursuing passions, and leaving a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.”

The statement noted that the deceased’s legacy, “is a testament to his character and the impact he had on those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a commitment to excellence that will continue to inspire us all.

“Beyond his professional achievements, Emeka had a passion for life that was infectious. He had an insatiable curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, which led him to explore the world and engage in meaningful conversations with people from all walks of life. His ability to connect with others on a genuine level made him a true friend to many,” an obituary by QuietSolitudes.com stated.

The late Oduoza was a convivial and magnanimous individual, according to those who knew him.

“His presence illuminated every room he entered, and his warm smile was a reflection of his kind and compassionate nature. Emeka was not only a beloved family member and friend, but he was also a distinguished member of the Blackstone community,” a report stated. “His exceptional skills and commitment to his work as a Blackstone member made him a valued and respected colleague.”

The statement added, “He approached his responsibilities with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of integrity, leaving an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.”
