Honourable Justice Olatokunbo John Bamgbose, a judge of the High Court of Ogun State is dead. He died on June 30, 2023 at 63 years old.

Late Hon. Justice O.J Bamgbose started his law practice under the pupillage of Late Olisa Chukwura SAN and later established his law firm at Ibadan, Oyo State before being appointed as a Judge in the Ogun State Judiciary.

He Lordship is married to Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose SAN (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan) and three children who are all legal practitioners. He was also until his death an Elder in the Glory Tabernacle Ministry.

In a condolence message by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ibadan, Justice Bamgbose’s demise was described as a great loss to the judiciary and the nation as a whole.

“The Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch (Premier Bar) was shocked to receive the news of the demise of Hon. Justice Olatokunbo Bamgbose who was until his death a Judge in the Ogun State Judiciary and author of The Digest of the Judgments of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”

“His death is a great loss to the Judiciary, the Bar and the Nation as a whole having contributed in no small measure during his lifetime to the development of the justice sector and good governance through the instrumentality of law. May God Almighty comfort the bar, friends and family left behind and rest his soul.”
