The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has set up a 5-member Electoral Committee to midwife the next leadership for the Section.

A statement by the NBA-SPIDEL Council Chairman, Dr. M.O. Ubani and Secretary Dr. Princess Frank-Chukwuani named leading senior lawyer and human rights advocate, Mr. Emeka Nwadioke as the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, while Chief J.K. Omotinugbon will act as the Committee’s Secretary.

Other members of the Committee are Abdullahi Musa Karaye Esquire, Francis Ogunbowale Esquire and Charity Ibezim Esquire.

The Committee has the mandate to conduct election of the Section leading to the emergence of a new team to spearhead the activities of the Section.

The election will draw the curtains on the forthcoming Annual Conference of the Section in Lagos.

It is recalled that Dr. M. O. Ubani has been instrumental in raising so much awareness and creating value for the Section. Dr. Ubani organized the much talked about 2021 Annual Conference in Ibadan, Oyo State and the 2022 Annual Conference in Abuja.

His Administration is on the verge of holding another landmark Annual Conference in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Given the array of eminent speakers that have confirmed participation at the conference and the strong support of key stakeholders, the conference promises to be widely attended and discussed for years to come.

The Conference has as its theme, “Post-Election Nigeria: The Judiciary in the eye of the storm.”

The NBA-SPIDEL Elections will hold on Friday, June 23, 2023. The new leadership will be sworn-in immediately after the elections by the Electoral Committe.
