The Nigerian Bar Association has denied suspending a young female lawyer identified only as Ifunanya contrary to speculations.

There were reports that the lawyer was sanctioned over photos showing her unclad or smoking marijuana. There have been reports that the actions of the young lawyer, called to the bar last year, was not good for the image of the country’s legal profession. Some people however noted that she committed no offence being a model exhibiting her art.

The young female lawyer has multiple social media accounts bearing her images. Recall that on October 12, 2022, she said that she was not a gangster, stating that her picture with a Cuban cigar was for modelling purposes, and not for her call to bar celebration.

The NBA National Publicity Secretary, Korede Lawal, who spoke to press on Wednesday, said the lawyer was not sanctioned.

He said that information suggesting an action had been taken against the young female lawyer was false.

Lawal stated, “NBA has not discussed her issue at all. We will issue a position on the matter. As it stands now, we have not suspended her. We have not.’’
