The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Sunday threatened to take a drastic steps, including legal action against Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over “his attack on Judiciary”.

National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, in a statement described the governor as “an enemy of democracy”.

Comrade Adamu while calling on well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the governor, warned that such comment against a system was capable of projecting Nigeria as a country where rule of law is not respected.

The JUSUN president further recalled how El-Rufai disregarded the doctrine of separation of power and transferred his members to the office of Head of Civil Service.

The statement reads, “The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) is saddened by the recent  comment by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai aimed at ridiculing Judiciary as an arm of government.

“We are worried that the same El-Rufai sometimes ago disregarded the doctrine of separation of power and move Judiciary in the state to be under the State Head of Service.

“Not minding the duties and function of Judicial Service Commission (JSC) . JUSUN has warned well meaning Nigerians and lovers of democracy to prevail on such a dangerous move.

“Making a spurious allegations against the Judiciary, specifically the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) is dangerous, callous and undemocratic.

“We condemned such disparaging comment and warned that the union will not hesitate to take a more drastic and civilised approach including legal action  against  Kaduna State Governor to challenge him as a protest against such unwarranted attacked on the Judiciary.

“We are also going to expose all the evil and dangerous move El-Rufai has been making to put Judiciary in his pocket like an emperor that he is. JUSUN cannot fold her hands to watch a man that don’t mean well for the country destroy an institution just because a matter didn’t go the way he want.

“JUSUN is ever committed to ensure the actualisation of an independence Judiciary that is not seen as an appendage of the Executive arm of government”.
