Tricycle Rider Arraigned for Allegedly Defiling Neighbour’s Daughter
The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned a 47-year-old tricycle rider, Israel Chukwuka, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.
The defendant, who resides at 16, Ore Ofe St., Cele Ishashi, Lagos, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on a count charge of defilement.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, did not take his plea but directed that he should be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Osunsanmi said that she needed advice from the state director of public prosecutions.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the tricycle rider committed the offence on Aug. 17 at his residence.
Akeem said that the defendant was caught by a female neighbour while having canal knowledge of the girl.
Akeem said that the defendant fled when he noticed that he had been seen.
The prosecutor added that the defendant had been molesting the minor sexually and told her to keep it secret.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
