Sacked Benue Local Government Staff Asks Court To Commit The State Attorney General And Three Others To Prison For Contempt Of Court Judgement
The National Industrial Court Of Nigeria sitting in MAKURDI has fixed the 27th day of April, 2022 to hear a Motion filed by Abaa Ishmael Ngusha & 324 others against the government of Benue State seeking to commit the Attorney-General of Benue State, Michael Gusa Esq. and three (3) other for disobedience of the Judgment and orders of the Court.
Recall that on the 26th day of March, 2021, the Court gave Judgment in favour of 325 staff of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council directing that all their monthly salaries, emoluments and allowances be computed and paid to the Judgment Creditors.
The Court further ordered that the names of the 325 staff should be restored on the payroll of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council.
However, after more than a year later, the Government has refused, failed and neglected to comply with the Judgment after several demands and service of Form 48 on the Judgment Debtors.
In a Motion on Notice registered as NICN/MKD/03m/2022, filed alongside with Form 49, the Judgment creditors are thus seeking that those responsible for the affairs of Government should be committed to prison for their disobedience.
Also named in the motion are the Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council, Hon. Atera Alfred Avalumum, the Chairman Benue State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Ben Meladu and the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Barr. Kenneth Achabo.
