2023: Labour Party Unveils New List

The Labour Party (LP) on Wednesday unveiled the reversed 1, 453 member Campaign Council for the 2023 elections.

The LP National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, while addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, said the the list was reviewed after agitations from many concerned Nigerians who were ready to work for the success of the party in 2023.

The party had earlier released a list of 1,234 Campaign Council, but it was greeted with mixed reactions.

But according to Abure, the new list which will be inaugurated on Friday tried as much as possible to capture many of those committed to working with the Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Abure said the new list and the various committees of the campaign council would be inaugurated on Friday, preparatory to the official commencement of the campaign in Nasarawa on Saturday.

The Chairman called for unity of purpose to bring about good leadership, urging “those that are not on the list to continue the work you have been doing, we are campaigning because of the issue of leadership, in the country.

“The campaign council will be leading the campaign and we are sure Nigerians will support us to win the election and provide the required leadership.”

He said the other two main political parties have been hijacked by Money bags, saying “it is only the Labour Party that is owned and funded by the people and the party is ready to work for the People.”

The committee is still led by a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Mohammed Zarewa, as chairman while Doyin Okupe, a former media aide to President Olusegun Obasanjo remains Director General.
