The remains of the late elder statesman and leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo has been laid to rest at his personal residence in Ogbo Isanya,Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, South-West Nigeria.
The event which was held at the St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, near, Ijebuode saw outpouring of emotions as family members, associates, political leaders among others bid him farewell.
The Ogun state governor, Dapo Abiodun, saluted his doggedness, stance on True federalism describing him as a patriot, politician of unblemished repute.
His remains was solemnly wheeled into the church, where it was received by the clergy and followed by family members.
Delivering his sermon, the officiating Bishop of Remo Diocese, Bishop Olusina Fape, commended the life of purpose by the late Afenifere leader but called out the nation’s political class to-do what is right fOr a better Nigeria.
Family members, associates and friends described him as a man whose courage, integrity, and unwavering belief in justice left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history and will be highly missed
Pa Ayo Adebanjo was born on the 10th of April 1928 and passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96, was a key figure in Nigerian politics and a staunch advocate for justice.
The event attracted the presence of the former president Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, serving and former governors, family members, members of NADECO group, associates, Afenifere members among other distinguished personalities.
