The Lagos State Chapter of the Labour Party has issued a strong disclaimer concerning a fake document currently circulating on social media, purportedly outlining the timeline of party activities for the upcoming 2025 Lagos State Local Government Elections.
In an official statement signed by the Lagos State Labour Party Chairman, Pastor (Dr) Mrs. Dayo Ekong, the party categorically disassociates itself from a publication titled “Lagos State Labour Party Timeline of Party Activities”, allegedly authored by Rotimi Odunaike and Omorodion Dorcas, who falsely claim to be Chairman and Secretary of the party.
The party described the document as “fake, false and misleading in all its entirety,” emphasizing that it did not originate from the legally recognized leadership of the Labour Party in Lagos State.
In addition, the party has strongly condemned the recent inauguration of a so-called caretaker committee for the Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party, declaring it illegal, null, and void. According to the party leadership, those parading themselves as members of this committee or executive lack the authority and legal standing to act on behalf of the party in any capacity.
“The Labour Party in Lagos is led by Pastor (Dr) Mrs. Dayo Ekong as Chairman and Mr. Sam Okpala as Secretary,” the statement reads. “The only legitimate State Secretariat of the Labour Party is located at 59 Oduduwa Way, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.”
To prevent misinformation, members of the public, especially aspirants for the upcoming local government elections, are urged to verify the official leadership and party updates via the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.
“This forged publication is a calculated attempt to mislead our genuine members and to thwart the Labour Party’s preparations and chances in the forthcoming elections,” Pastor Ekong stated. “We have credible intelligence that those behind this act are being used as ‘willing tools’ by the ruling party to destabilize us.”
The Labour Party assures all its members and stakeholders that it remains united, legally constituted, and focused on its mission to provide credible leadership at all levels of governance.
“We do not want anyone to be scammed during this period of economic hardship,” Pastor Ekong warned. “To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”
