The Lagos State Chapter of the Labour Party has announced plans to host a Night of Tributes in honour of the late elder statesman and nationalist, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, whose life of integrity, courage, and service to Nigeria left an indelible mark on the nation’s political landscape.

The event is scheduled to hold on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 4:00 PM, at Pa Ayo Adebanjo’s residence, located at 8, Ayo Adebanjo Close, Off Adebanjo Doherty Road, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

A towering figure in Nigeria’s democratic journey, Pa Adebanjo was more than a political leader—he was a moral compass, a unifier, and an unwavering advocate for justice and national unity. His role in the most recent 2023 general elections stood as a testament to his lifelong dedication to principled politics. As leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, he made history by throwing his weight behind the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, igniting widespread national support and energizing a generation of young Nigerians yearning for change.

Pa Adebanjo also stood solidly behind Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivor, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, offering not just public endorsements but strategic guidance and encouragement. His support gave credibility to the candidacy and inspired a grassroots political awakening across the state.

The upcoming Night of Tributes will gather party leaders, members, civil society groups, and Nigerians from all walks of life to honour the legacy of a man who spent his entire life fighting for democracy, equity, and a just society. It will be an evening of reflection, music, tributes, and celebration of a life lived with uncommon integrity.

“Pa Adebanjo was not just a supporter of the Labour Party; he was a father to the movement. This event is our humble way of saying thank you for a life that shaped our history and inspired our future,” said Pastor Dr. (Mrs.) Dayo Ekong, Chairman of the Labour Party, Lagos State Chapter.

All members of the Labour Party, supporters, and members of the public are cordially invited to attend.
