An Onitsha High Court in Anambra State has remanded two persons in connection with the murder of Ikechukwu Nwite.

Nwite, a medicine dealer in Onitsha died in February allegedly at the hands of his apprentice, Chiemerie Anieke.

Anieke, 21, allegedly clubbed his boss to death with a pestle following an altercation between them.

The police arrested the apprentice and recovered some money stolen from the deceased.

He was arraigned on two counts bordering on murder and theft, along with Godwin Nwokporo, 21, who allegedly aided the crime by providing a bank account through which over N8 million belonging to the deceased was fraudulently transferred.

The police stated that the prime suspect allegedly used a pestle to strike his employer, Nwite, on the head, resulting in his death.

The suspect was also linked to an attack on  Ogechukwu Nwite in Fegge, Onitsha.

Operatives recovered N6 million of the stolen funds from the suspects, to be tendered as exhibits in the ongoing court proceedings.

The court remanded the suspects at a correctional centre pending further proceedings in the matter.

Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement, reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served and warned individuals against engaging in criminal activities.

He stated that the long arm of the law would always catch up with offenders.
